Plans & limits

Everythings has two plans. Free costs nothing and fits one person, a household or a small team. Plus costs $5/mo and raises every limit.

Both plans include every feature: comments, custom marks, images and attachments, AI Mode with your own key, and agents over MCP. Every limit is a published number, and the same rules apply on the web, on the phone and to your agents.

Whose plan counts

Some limits follow the plan of the person who owns the workspace. Others follow the plan of the person doing the writing.

The workspace owner's planPeople per workspace, pending invitations, things per workspace, comments per thing, custom mark names, and whether the workspace turns read-only.
Your own planWorkspaces you own, upload storage, and the daily limits on thing writes, comments and marks.
  • Invited to a Plus owner's workspace while you are on Free? That workspace holds up to 20,000 things and 50 people for you too.
  • Your daily limits and your storage follow your own plan in every workspace you write in, yours or someone else's.
  • When you own a shared workspace on Free, its members work within your Free limits for that workspace, whatever their own plan.
  • An agent you connect works under your account, so the things it creates for you count toward your daily thing writes.

What each limit counts

Workspaces you own

Every workspace where you are the owner. Workspaces shared with you never count. Deleting a workspace you own, or handing it to someone else with Make owner, frees a slot.

People per workspace

The owner plus every member. Pending invitations hold a seat too: an invitation is refused when the people already in the workspace plus everyone still invited would go over the limit. On Free that means you and two others, invitations included. Invitations expire after 7 days, and canceling one frees its seat at once.

Pending invitations

Invitations sent from one workspace that nobody has accepted or declined yet. Since each one also holds a seat, the people limit is the one you meet first.

Things per workspace

Every thing at every depth, things in Trash included. Emptying the workspace's Trash gives that room back, and so does moving a branch into another workspace.

Comments per thing

Every comment on one thing. Each thing has its own count.

Custom mark names

The number of different mark names anyone has used in a workspace. A name counts once someone has used it, and using a name the workspace already has adds nothing, so only a brand-new name can be stopped. Faves (the ⭐ star) never count. A workspace's list of default marks holds up to 8 marks on both plans. See Marks.

Upload storage

The total size of every image and file you have uploaded, across all workspaces: logos, wallpapers, cover images, pictures in content and attachments. One file can be up to 25 MB; an image for a logo, a cover or a thing's picture can be up to 3 MB and must be a JPG, PNG, SVG or WebP. Billing shows Storage used.

Daily limits

A new thing counts as one thing write, and so does each save that changes a thing's name, content, tags, emoji, icon or image. With auto-save on, each automatic save counts once. Moving, reordering, trashing and restoring count nothing. Comments and marks have daily limits of their own: each new comment and each mark you add counts once. All three start over at midnight UTC, and Billing shows Thing writes today.

Text limits

The longest each field can be. These are the same on both plans.

Display name100 characters
Workspace name200 characters (at least 2)
Agent Instructions of a workspace8,000 characters
Thing name200 characters

What happens at a limit

The message you see

The action stops and a Plan limit reached message says which limit it hit and the number. When Plus would lift the limit, the message carries an Upgrade button that opens Billing. Limits that are the same on both plans, such as the text limits and the Plus ceilings, show the message alone. The phone app shows the same message at the bottom of the screen.

Nothing you already made is deleted or hidden. The action that would go over simply waits until there is room.

Read-only workspaces

A workspace whose owner is on Free locks to read-only when it goes over a Free limit on workspaces or people:

  • The owner owns more than 3 workspaces. The first 3 in the owner's workspace switcher stay open and the rest lock.
  • The workspace holds more than 3 people, owner included.

In a locked workspace everyone can still read everything. Nobody can add or edit things, comment, mark or upload. Trashing, restoring, moving and reordering keep working, and so does answering an agent's question, so you can always make room. The comment box reads This workspace is read-only, so new comments are closed. On the phone, the workspace shows a banner and an open thing shows a Read-only badge.

The other limits never lock anything. They stop just the action that would go over: one more thing, comment, mark name, upload or write.

Unlock a workspace

  1. Open Billing. Under Locked workspaces it lists each locked workspace, with its people count when that is the reason.
  2. Upgrade to Plus, and every lock lifts as soon as the plan changes.
  3. Or bring the workspace back under the Free limits: remove members or cancel pending invitations on its Members tab, and delete workspaces you no longer need or hand them to someone with Make owner.
  4. To choose which 3 workspaces stay open, drag them to the top of your workspace switcher. The workspace pushed out of the first 3 locks in its place.

Going from Plus to Free

Plus ends when you cancel and the paid period runs out, or when a store subscription lapses. Your account then follows the Free limits, and nothing is deleted.

  • Workspaces over the Free limits on workspaces or people turn read-only, as above.
  • A workspace with more than 500 things keeps them all and takes new ones once it is under the limit again, Trash included.
  • A thing with more than 100 comments keeps them and takes no more.
  • Mark names already in use keep working. A new name waits until the workspace uses fewer than 8.
  • If your uploads already total more than 250 MB, they all stay, and new uploads are refused while you are over.
  • Your daily limits follow the Free numbers.
  • Members of shared workspaces you own work within your Free limits in those workspaces from then on.

Upgrading again lifts every limit and lock right away.

Upgrade and billing

Upgrade on the web

  1. Open the account menu (your picture at the top right) and choose Billing, or open the pricing page.
  2. Click Upgrade to Plus. Checkout runs on Stripe and accepts promotion codes.
  3. Pay. You come back to Billing with a Payment received note, and the plan reads Plus within moments. Refresh the page if it still says Free.

The Billing & Plan page

  • Current plan, and on Plus the date it renews or expires.
  • Your usage: workspaces you own, storage used, thing writes today, and your comment and mark limits.
  • Per workspace: each workspace you own, with its things and people against the limits, and any pending invitations.
  • Locked workspaces, when any are read-only.
  • Manage billing on Plus opens Stripe's billing portal, where you manage or cancel the subscription. For a subscription from the App Store or Google Play, the page says where to manage it on your device.

Upgrade on the phone

In the phone app, open the account menu, choose Settings, and find Plan on your Profile. It shows your current plan, your usage and any locked workspaces. On Free, Upgrade to Plus buys a monthly subscription through the App Store or Google Play at the price your store shows; it renews until you cancel it in your device's subscription settings. Restore Purchases brings back a subscription after a reinstall or on a new phone. On Plus bought in a store, Manage subscription opens the store's subscription page. See The phone app.

One Plus, everywhere

Plus counts on every surface, whichever way you bought it: the web, iPhone, Android and your agents all see the same plan. While you are on Plus the web opens no second checkout. A subscription from the App Store or Google Play is managed on your device, and the Billing page says where: on iPhone or iPad, Settings › your name › Subscriptions; on Android, Play Store › profile › Payments & subscriptions.

Trying the app as a guest? Billing asks you to sign up first, from the bar at the top of the page. See Getting started.

Questions

Do I need Plus to connect an agent or use AI Mode?

No. Agents over MCP, AI Mode and voice work on every plan. AI Mode runs on your own OpenAI or Anthropic key, which you add in Settings › AI Provider.

Do workspaces other people share with me count toward my limit?

No. Only workspaces you own count toward your 3 on Free. You can belong to as many shared workspaces as people invite you to.

I have one member on Free. Why can't I invite another person?

Pending invitations hold a seat. On Free a workspace holds 3 people with you included, so you, one member and one waiting invitation already fill it. Cancel an invitation you no longer need on the Members tab of the workspace settings, or wait for it to expire after 7 days.

Is anything deleted when I hit a limit or go back to Free?

Nothing. A limit stops the one action that would go over it, and a workspace over the Free limits turns read-only. Everything you made stays readable.

When do the daily limits start over?

At midnight UTC, every day.

What does Plus cost?

$5/mo on the web, billed monthly; the pricing page always shows the current price. In the phone app, the App Store or Google Play shows the price for your store.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes. On the web, open Billing and choose Manage billing; you keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for. A subscription bought in the phone app is canceled in your device's subscription settings.
