A workspace holds a tree of things. A thing is a note with a name, an icon and Markdown content, and it can hold sub-things of its own. This page covers everything you can do in Everythings on your own.
Open the workspace switcher (the workspace name at the top left) and choose Add Workspace. Give it a name and an emoji, and pick what it starts from:
Each workspace has a logo, a wallpaper and an accent colour, set separately for light and dark mode. Change them, the name and the emoji later under Workspace Settings in the switcher. Changes there save as you make them.
The switcher lists every workspace you own or belong to; drag them into the order you want. Set as default workspace makes the current one open first when you sign in. Ctrl Alt ← → steps between workspaces from the keyboard.
Click the ⊕ under the grid, or press +. To put a thing inside another, open that thing and use the ⊕ under its sub-things (Add sub-item).
Click ✏️ or the thing's text to edit. You can change its name, its content and its tags (separated by commas or spaces; a tag links to every thing that carries it). Click the icon to choose an emoji, upload an image, or type a short text.
The editor writes Markdown. Type / for a menu of headings, bullet, numbered and task lists, code blocks, quotes, dividers, tables, images and YouTube videos. Task list boxes can be ticked without opening the editor.
Add Attachment in the ⋮ menu attaches a file (up to 25 MB).
Drag a tile into a gap between two others to reorder. Drop it on the middle of another tile to move it inside that thing. Drop a sub-thing on the background outside its card to move it up a level. While you drag, a trash target and a duplicate target appear in the bottom corners.
Press and hold a tile, then release, to start selecting. Tap more tiles to add them, then Duplicate or Delete them together. Esc clears the selection.
Duplicate in the ⋮ menu copies a thing and its sub-things. You choose where the copy goes: beside the original, or inside any workspace or thing you can reach.
Switch to Large Icon View in a thing's ⋮ menu shows its sub-things as big tiles, which suits photos and collections. Switch to Normal View goes back.
A mark is an emoji label you put on a thing, like ✅ done or 🔥 urgent. Marks sit at the top of the thing, so anyone who opens it sees where it stands.
The ⭐ on a thing adds it to Faves, a tile that collects your favourites. Beside it are the workspace's default marks, shown faded until you tap one.
Each workspace has its own list of up to 8 default marks. Edit it under Workspace Settings → Default marks: add, remove, rename and reorder them, or go back to the app's defaults with Use app defaults.
For a one-off, choose Create Custom Mark in the ⋮ menu and give it a name and an emoji. A Free workspace can use up to 8 custom mark names.
The search field on the grid looks through the names, tags and content of things in every workspace you can open. Ctrl/⌘ K opens quick search anywhere, starting with what you changed most recently.
The AI Mode tab under the search field (or the mic button, or Ctrl/⌘ Shift V) takes spoken or typed requests, like “add milk to my groceries thing”, and carries them out: it can find, create, edit, move and delete things, add comments and open workspaces. It runs on your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key, which you add under Settings → AI Provider.
Delete Item in the ⋮ menu (or the Delete key) moves a thing and its sub-things to the workspace's Trash. While Trash holds anything, a bar at the bottom of the grid shows how many items are in it, with Restore all and Empty. Open it to restore items one at a time. Emptying Trash deletes its items permanently.

As deep as you like. Every thing can hold sub-things, and each of those can hold more.
Yes. Deleting moves a thing and everything under it to the workspace's Trash, where Restore puts it back with its content, marks and comments. It is only gone for good once someone empties Trash.
Content is stored as Markdown. Headings, lists, checklists, tables, code, quotes, links and images all carry over; raw HTML tags are not rendered.
Yes, under Settings → Editor → Auto-save. With it off, a Save button (and Ctrl/⌘ Enter) saves your edits.
In the thing's ⋮ menu, Copy as Markdown puts its content on your clipboard and Download .md saves it as a file.
